Heather Michelle Backfisch, daughter of Don and Andrea Backfisch of Dexter, and Daniel Patrick Mustain, son of James and Karen Mustain of Troy, were united in marriage at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 6, 2010, at the First Baptist Church of Dexter. The double-ring ceremony was performed by Pastor Mike Watkins, uncle of the bride. The bride was escorted down the candlelit aisle by her father. The aisle runner was decorated with a monogram painted by Mrs. Kristi Banken, friend of the family. Fuchsia and white rose petals adorned the sides of the runner. The altar was adorned with a large topiary covered in fuchsia and light pink Gerber daisies, candelabra and a unity candle.

Grandparents of the bride are Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Ayers, Jr., of Dexter and the late George and Lelia Backfisch. Grandparent of the bridegroom is Mr. Robert Mustain of Troy.

The bride wore a strapless taffeta gown by Allure and carried a fuchsia bouquet with a variety of fuchsia and pink flowers. The bride carried her late grandmother's rosary wrapped in her bouquet. The bridesmaids wore one shoulder, long black dresses, fuchsia sandals and carried fuchsia bouquets. The maid of honor was Miss Courtney Pare, longtime friend of the bride of St. Charles. Bridesmaids were Mrs. Amy Blackburn of Harviell, Mrs. Candace Martin of St. Louis, Mrs. Morgan Loesel of Charlottesville, Va., and Mrs. Misty Tilmon of Sikeston. All bridal attendants were friends of the bride. Miss Annie Banken, friend of the bride, served as flower girl. Candlelighters were Mrs. Kelly Kolander and Miss Erin Mustain, sisters of the bridegroom. Guest book attendant was Mrs. Danielle Backfisch, sister-in-law of the bride.

The men wore black tuxedos with fuchsia boutonnieres. Dan's best man was Phil Creech, friend of the bridegroom from Wentzville. Groomsmen were Mike Schroer of Cape Canaveral, Fla., Nick Counts of Irvington, Ill., Jared Martin of St. Louis, and John Loesel of Charlottesville, Va., all friends of the bridegroom. Ushers were Daniel Backfisch, brother of the bride from Saint Ann, and Jim Mustain, brother of the bridegroom from Cape Girardeau.

Immediately following the ceremony, a reception and dance were held at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church Hall. The hall was decorated using black tablecloths, fuchsia overlays and runners, as well as black chair covers with fuchsia sashes tied onto each chair. The bride's maternal grandmother and grandfather's cake topper which was also used on the wedding cake of her parents was placed on the head table under glass. Floral designer for the evening was Mr. Gregory Banken of Gregory's Creations. Hors d'oeuvres were served throughout the evening by Mrs. Marshal Lovelady and Mrs. Carol Moreland of Dexter. Guests enjoyed having their pictures taken in a photo booth from Gateway Photo Booths of Lebadie. Each guest took away a photo strip of themselves at the wedding as a favor. Guests also enjoyed snacking on treats from the candy buffet. The wedding cake and bridegroom's cake were made by Mrs. Pat Robinson of Dexter. Servers were Mrs. Donna Backfisch, Mrs. Gail Backfisch, and Mrs. Frances Montgomery, all aunts of the bride. Guests enjoyed dancing to Mr. Tim Holder's sound system, Vertigo. Wedding photographer was Ms. Jeri Ward of Dexter. The wedding ceremony coordinator was Mrs. Mindy Robey, and the media consultant was Mr. Don Kennedy, both of Dexter. The wedding guitarist was Mr. Jeff Hovis, friend of the couple of Poplar Bluff. Mrs. Angela Watkins, aunt of the bride, and Mrs. Kay Ayers, grandmother of the bride, also helped throughout the wedding with preparations.

After a honeymoon cruise to Cozumel and Playa de Carmen, the couple resides in Poplar Bluff where Heather is a speech-language pathologist, and Daniel is a police officer for the Poplar Bluff Police Department.
