Evelyn King Morse

Evelyn King Morse, daughter of the late Izadore King and Katie Bell King. was born on July 13, 1922 in Mount Vernon, Ill., and died on May 31, 2010, at her residence in Bloomfield at the age of 87.

Mrs. Morse was raised in Campbell where she graduated from Campbell High School in 1940. Formerly of Poplar Bluff, she worked for 25 years at Florsheim Shoe in Poplar Bluff and 12 years for the Conservation Department. Evelyn was a member of the Memorial Baptist Church in Poplar Bluff; and she loved all sports, was a devoted grandmother, and great-grandmother.

On April 17, 1942 she was united in marriage to Victor Morse in Piggott, Ark. Mr. Morse preceded her in death on Oct.14, 1990.

Survivors include one son, James Allen Morse and wife Deanna of Williamsville; three daughters, Evelyn Irene Rinehart and husband Max of Bloomfield, Vickie Fay Stahl of Dexter, and Carol Jean Holsapple of Bloomfield; two brothers, Russel King of Simpsonville, S.C., and Norman King of Sun City, Calif.; eight grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren; also by many nieces and nephews.

Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers and one sister.

Visitation will be held at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter from 5-8 p.m. on Wednesday June 2, 2010.

Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, June 3, 2010, at 10 a.m. in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel in Dexter with Rev. Kevin Eskew officiating.

Interment will follow in the North Antioch Cemetery near Bloomfield.
