Donald Tippen, son of the late Samuel Newton Tippen and Mildred Brown Tippen, was born on April 2, 1939, in Dexter and died at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau on June 7, 2010 at the age of 71.

Mr. Tippen was the owner of D & J Plumbing in Dexter, a veteran of the United States Marine Corp, was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Dexter, and a resident of Dexter.

He was united in marriage to Karen Carmen on Sept. 10, 1987 in Dexter. Mrs. Tippen survives of the home in Dexter.

Besides his wife, he is survived by two sons, Donald Wayne Tippen of Atlanta, Ga., and Terry Lee Tippen of Santa Ana, Calif.; three daughters, Melinda Fay Fuwell of Houston, Denise Sue Tippen of Coffeyville, Kan., and April Joy Tippen of St. Louis; two step-daughters, Dawn Melody Dowdy of Dexter and Jamie Whitaker of Elkhart, Ind.; one brother, Jennings Tippen of Kennett; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister.

Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church Building Repair Fund, 501 S. Walnut, Dexter, Mo. 63841.

Visitation will be held at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter on Thursday, June 10, 2010 from 5-8 p.m.

Funeral services will be conducted Friday, June 11, 2010 at 11 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Dexter with Rev. Louis Lowe officiating.

Interment will follow in the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield.
