William "Max" Corlew

William "Max" Corlew, son of the late William Arthur Corlew and Letha Markham, was born on Dec. 21, 1914, near Dexter and died in the Crowley Ridge Care Center in Dexter on June 17, 2010, at the age of 95.

Mr. Corlew was a former section foreman for the Missouri Pacific Railroad, a veteran of the United States Army serving in World War II, and a resident of Dexter.

He was united in marriage to Altie Rose on March 16, 1934, at Paragould, Ark. Mrs. Corlew preceded him in death on Dec. 25, 2003.

He is survived by two sons, Jerry Leon Corlew of Dexter and Eddie Levoi "Bud" Corlew of Bonne Terre; two daughters, Glenda Perry of Henderson, Tenn., and Artencie Satterfield of Sikeston; one brother, Arthur Rex Corlew of Hemet, Calif.; two sisters, Helen Ruth Coon of Nixa and Amelia Belle Green of Dexter; seven grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.

Besides his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by one son, Billy Ray Corlew.

Visitation will be held at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, June 19, 2010.

Funeral services will then be conducted at 1 p.m. on June 19, 2010, in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel with Rev. Roger Wooten officiating.
