Joe Haney

Joe Haney, son of the late Smith James Haney and Madge Phipps Haney, was born on Nov. 21, 1939 in Benton and died at Missouri Southern Healthcare in Dexter on June 28, 2010 at the age of 70.

Mr. Haney was a former heavy equipment operator for Wilson McMullin Construction and Bridger Construction Company at Sikeston and was a resident of rural Dexter.

He was united in marriage to Mary Alice Jennings on May 29, 1959 in Dexter. Mrs. Haney preceded him in death on Oct. 16, 2004.

Survivors include two sons, Tim Haney of Dexter, Ronnie Haney and wife. Georgia Haney, of Dexter; one daughter, Lori Massey and husband Mike of Parker, Kan.; by one brother, Rev. John E. Haney of Rockbridge, Ill.; by four grandchildren Kayse Bond of Dexter, Melissa Howard and Sara Massey both of Osawatomie, Kan., and Josh Worley of Puxico; also by one great-granddaughter, MaKayla Lynn Annesser of Dexter.

Besides his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Eugene Haney and Alfred Haney.

Visitation will take place at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday, June 30, 2010. Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, July 1, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel in Dexter with Rev. Kent Miller officiating. Interment will follow in the Dexter Cemetery.

The family requests that any donations may be made to a memorial of choice.
