John Vaughn
John Vaughn, son of the late Andy and Lennie Cantrell Vaughn who were his biological parents and Minnie and Earnest Faulkner who raised him and whom he considered as parents, was born on May 21, 1935 in Cape Girardeau and died on July 6, 2010 at the St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau at the age of 75.

Mr. Vaughn was a member of the First General Baptist Church in Dexter, retired operator of Chapman-Vaughn Steel Company in Dexter, an avid outdoors enthusiast, a heavy equipment operator for the Navy Sea Bees and a resident of Dexter.

He was united in marriage to Lucille Mae Cross on Nov. 11, 1959 in Vanduser. Mrs. Vaughn survives of their home in Dexter.

He is survived by one son, Rodney Vaughn of Dexter; by two brothers, Gilbert Faulkner of Dexter and Sam Faulkner of Bloomfield; by four sisters, Dorothy Howard of Peculiar, Christine Ryan of Beaumont, Texas, Virginia Meridith of Elizabethtown, Ky. and Ruth Ann Faulkner of Bend, Ore.; by one grandson, Nick Hutchison of Cuba, Mo. and by one great-grandson Ayden Hutchison of Cuba, Mo.

Besides his parents he was preceded in death by five brothers, Edward Vaughn, Earl Vaughn, George Faulkner, Carl Faulkner and Norman Faulkner; by three sisters, Beatrice Hester, Geneva Nelson and Grace Lindsman.

Visitation will be held at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter on Thursday, July 8, 2010 from 5-8 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, July 9, 2010 at 11 a.m. in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel. Interment will follow in the Dexter Cemetery with Rev. Kenneth Biggs officiating.
