Everett Craig, son of the late Hallie Everett, Sr. and Nira Norman Craig, was born in Blytheville, Ark. on Aug. 16, 1920, and died at the Gideon Care Center in Gideon on July 30, 2010, at the age of 89.
Mr. Craig had lived in Arkansas before moving to Essex in 1953. He had been a teacher and farmed for many years. He was a member of the Life Church in Sikeston and a past member of the Essex Lions Club.
He was first married to Ruby Frazier, she preceded him in death on Feb. 5, 1988. He later married Maxine Fakes.
Surviving are his wife, Maxine Craig of Sikeston; four sons, Robert Everett Craig and Joe Craig both of Dexter, David Craig of Sikeston, Danny Craig of Alexandria, La.; one daughter, Diane Craig of Pine Bluff, Ark.; a granddaughter raised by Mr. and Mrs. Craig, Beth Craig of Ky.; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Other relatives and friends also survive. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Jeanice Craig; one brother O'Neal Craig; and one sister, Nan Watson.
Visitation will be Sunday, August 1, 2010, after 12 p.m. at Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Dexter.
Services will be held Sunday, August 1, 2010, at 1 p.m. in the Watkins & Sons Chapel in Dexter with the Rev. Danny Craig of Sikeston officiating.
Interment will be in the Dexter Cemetery in Dexter with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Dexter in charge of arrangements.
