Thurman A. Almond, son of the late Autie A. and Ora Bailey Almond, was born in Aid on April 20, 1921, and died at the St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau on Aug. 10, 2010, at the age of 89.

Mr. Almond had lived in Bloomfield most of his life. He was a retired truck driver and attended the First General Baptist Church in Bloomfield.

On Dec. 6, 1941, he was married to Mayme Juldene Long in Piggott, Ark. She preceded him in death on Jan. 15, 2002.

Surviving are one son, Mike Almond of Cape Girardeau; one daughter, Connie Almond of Sikeston; two grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two sisters, Thelma Underwood of Puxico and Leah Robertson of Sikeston; one brother, Charles Almond of Portland, Ore.; and one aunt, Geneva Pruitt of Dexter. Other relatives and friends also survive. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Julia Ann Almond; and one brother.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, Aug. 12, 2010, after 10 a.m. at the Chiles-Cooper Funeral Home in Bloomfield.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, Aug. 12, 2010, at 11 a.m. at the Chiles-Cooper Funeral Home in Bloomfield with Rev. Kevin Eskew of Bloomfield officiating.

Interment will be in the Bloomfield Cemetery in Bloomfield with Chiles-Cooper Funeral Home in Bloomfield in charge of arrangements.
