Mary Lou Hampton Ellis was raised by parents, Louie and Laverne Hampton, after the untimely passing of her mother, Ethyl Pirtle Hampton. She was born on Jan. 12, 1929 in Bernie and died at her residence in Parma on Aug. 16, 2010 at the age of 81.

Mrs. Ellis was united in marriage to Bud Ellis for 38 years. She attended school and grew up in Missouri, later moving to Tyler, Texas, and then to Shreveport, La.

Survivors include Bud Ellis of Bronson, Texas; two daughters, Sandra Womack and husband Richard, of Texas, Debra Heffner and husband, Richard, of Florida; one son, William Ellis, of Missouri; two brothers, Larry Hampton and wife, Kathy ,of Bernie, Allen Hampton and wife, Kim, of Parma, Missouri; by one sister, Doris Harmon of Pontiac, Michigan; by five grandchildren, Robbie McDowell, J. Bounds, Keith Bounds, Linda Ann Ellis, and David Lee Ellis; also by nine great-grandchildren, and by a host of loving family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Ethyl Pirtle Hampton, her father, Louis Elbert Hampton, step-mother, Lavern Hampton; one sister, Jeannie Hampton Botsch; and by two brothers, Braxton Hampton and Keith Hampton.

Visitation will take place at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter from noon until 2 p.m. Saturday Aug. 21, 2010.

Funeral services will then be conducted at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 21, 2010 in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel in Dexter with Pastor Charles Mayes officiating. Interment will follow in the Dexter Cemetery.
