Alene Book, daughter of the late Elmer Esterline and Nettie Mae Cun-ningham Esterline, was born on July 29, 1920 at Qulin and died in the Trust-point Health-care at Lubbock, Texas on Sept. 14, 2010, at the age of 90.

Mrs. Book was a member of the First Church Of The Nazarene in Lubbock, Texas, a former member of the First Church Of The Nazarene in Dexter, the former co-owner of the Madison One Hour Cleaners in Madison, Mich., with her husband, Carl Book and a resident of Lubbock, Texas, formerly of Dexter.

She was united in marriage to Carl Book on July 21, 1940 at Malden. Mr. Book preceded her in death on Nov. 16, 2006.

She is survived by two sons, Roy Lee Book of Indialantic, Fla., and Kenneth Leon Book of Lubbock, Texas; three daughters, Carlene Joyce Soroka of Cleveland, Tenn., Paula Faye Burk of Rochester, Mich., and Cheryl Lynn Hurttgam of Sterling Heights, Mich.; one brother, John Esterline of Cincinnati, Ohio; three sisters, Angeline Krugger of Cameron, Faye Krugger of Fargo, N.D., and Doris Hoggard of Bernie; 11 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren.

Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by one grandson, Kevin Book; three brothers, Edward Esterline, Howard Esterline and Leroy Esterline; seven sisters, Dora Davis, Leveda Preston, Mary Esterline, Lettie Esterline, Vivian Lockamy, Ruth Esterline, and Dawn Esterline.

Visitation will be held at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter from 5-8 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 17, 2010.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Sept.18, 2010, in the First Church Of The Nazarene in Dexter with Rev. Roger Wooten officiating. Interment will follow in the Chalk Bluff Cemetery near Dexter.
