BLOOMFIELD-One man is in jail following a weekend traffic stop in Bloomfield that resulted in the recovery of methamphetamine precursors.
Stoddard County Sheriff Carl Hefner reports the arrest of Hershel B. (Huff) Deaton, 57 of Poplar Bluff.
As the result of an investigation into illegal drug activity in the Bloomfield area, Sheriff's Deputies, along with the Bloomfield Police Department, stopped a vehicle driven by Deaton. Inside the vehicle Deputies found precursors for the manufacture of methamphetamine along with an undisclosed amount of methamphetamine.
Deaton is charged with Class C felony of possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine) and the Class C felony of possession of precursors to the manufacture of methamphetamine.
Deaton, who is currently on federal parole for the same charge, is being housed in the Stoddard County Jail on $25,000 cash-only bond.
