William Carlton "Bill" Horn, son of the late Lillie Stephens Horn Woodruff and Cairl Woodruff was born on Jan. 10, 1925 at Bernie and died in the Golden Living Center at Dexter on Nov. 1, 2010 at the age of 85.
Mr. Horn was a member of the Dexter First Church of God, a veteran of the United States Navy serving in World War II, a former painter with Mid- South Painting and Drywall and a resident of Dexter.
He was first united in marriage to Ruby Jennings on October 25, 1946 at Piggott, Ark. She preceded him in death on March 28, 1991. He was then united in marriage to Doris Mae Bowling on March 12, 1992 at Dexter. Mrs. Horn survives of the home in Dexter.
Besides his wife, he is survived by one son, Scott Horn of Dexter; by one daughter, Judy Shelton and husband Kenneth of Dexter; by two step-sons, Terry Bowling and wife Debbie of Farmington, Steven Bowling and wife Needa of East Prairie; two step-daughters, Beverly O'Daniell and husband J. R. of Bloomfield and Pat Boone of Dexter; one brother, Cairl Woodruff Jr. of Dexter; one sister, Patricia Baldwin of Essex; three grandchildren and twelve step-grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; 18 step-great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Walter Woodruff and one son-in-law, Jim Boone.
Visitation will be held at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter from 5-8 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2010. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 3, 2010 in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel with DeArvin McClellan and Rev. Leonard Madigan officiating. Interment will follow in the Sycamore Cemetery near Dexter.
