Kurtis "Ras" Hall, son of Charles Wesley and Susan Emma Jean Holden Hall, was born on Aug. 24, 1952, in Poplar Bluff and died at the St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeaui on Nov. 3, 2010, at the age of 58.

Mr. Hall worked for Dave Morris Construction and was a member of the Missouri Southern Baptist Church in Essex. He was an avid bowler and hunter. He lived his whole life in the Essex area.

He was married to Joyce Wanda Layton on June 30, 1989 in Bloomfield.

He is survived by his wife ,Joyce Wanda Hall of Essex; two step-sons, Paul Woodard, Jr. of Junction City, Kan., and Douglas L. Graviett of Dexter; four step-daughters, Rebecca G. Kelly of Jackson, Marsha D. Woodard and Susan K. Woodard, both of Dexter, and Donna J. Poe of Bernie; his parents, Charles Wesley and Susan Emma Jean Hall of Essex; 18 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; one sister, Charla "Suzie" Ruppert of Essex; and one brother, Dan Hall of Pevely. Many other family and friends survive.

Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 4, 2010, at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Dexter. Funeral Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 5, 2010, at the Watkins & Sons Chapel with Rev. Larry Davis of Advance officiating.

Interment will follow at the Link Cemetery with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Dexter in charge of arrangements.
