Norma Lee Garner Grubbs
Norma Lee Garner Grubbs, daughter of the late Robert Alexander Garner and Cora Lee DeArmen Garner, was born on Feb. 22, 1922, near Pyletown and died on Tuesday, Nov. 9, 2010, at her residence in Dexter at the age of 88.

Mrs. Grubbs was a retired cook at the Dexter Convalescent Center. In addition she co-owned and operated several restaurants in the Dexter area throughout the years. She was a faithful member of the Dexter Church of Christ. She was beloved by all who knew her and will be sincerely missed.

She is survived by six sons, Oakley Grubbs, Jr. and Jerry L. Grubbs, both of Indianapolis, Ind., Kenneth E. Grubbs, Gilbert M. Grubbs, Glen V. Grubbs and David P. Grubbs, all of Dexter; five daughters, Ethel Marie Borders and Rosalee Ward, both of Indianapolis, Ind., Bonnie J. Gromer of Dexter, Ruthie Colove of Jackson, and Roberta A Getek of Springfield; three brothers, Robert Garner, Marvin Garner and Loyd Garner, all of Dexter; two sisters, Maxine Gillis of Dexter and Myrl Cook of St. Louis; 26 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren; 13 great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Bobby Gene Grubbs; five brothers, Lester Garner, Chester Garner, Hubert Garner, Ivan Garner and Larry Dean Garner; one sister, Emma Stallion; five grandchildren; one great-grandson; and the father of her children, Oakley R. Grubbs.

Visitation will be held at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter on Thursday, Nov. 11, 2010 from 5-8 p.m.

Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, Nov. 12, 2010, at 2 p.m.. in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel in Dexter with Don Barr officiating. Interment will follow in the Caroline Dowdy Cemetery in Dexter.
