Mr. Mofield attended the Second General Baptist Church in Dexter, was a former employee of IXL Manufacturing in Bernie, retiring in 2004 after 42 years of service, was one of Southeast Missouri's premier basketball and baseball players in the early 1950s for Essex High School. His recent passion was that of supporting the Bloomfield Wildcat Volleyball team.
He was united in marriage to Shelba Lane on July 29, 1961 at Essex. Mrs. Mofield survives of the home in Dexter.
Besides his wife, he is survived by one daughter, Amy Delay and husband Rick of Bloomfield; one daughter-in-law, Donna Mofield of Dexter; two granddaughters, Courtney Delay and Chelsea Delay, both of Bloomfield; two sisters, Peggy Weisenbach of Perryville and Sandy Jones of Dexter; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Chris Mofield; three sisters, Mary Jo Mofield, Betty Renard and Patsy Jones; brothers, Robert Mofield and John Dale Mofield.
Visitation was held at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter from 5-8 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 28, 2010.
Funeral services were conducted at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Nov. 29, 2010 in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel with Rev. Joshua Carpenter officiating. Interment will follow in the Dexter Cemetery.
