Rita Jean (Shehorn) Gilly died Monday, Nov. 29, 2010, at her daughter's home in Overland Park, Kan. Jean was born Dec. 5, 1924 in Puxico to E.E. Miller and Nettie M. Patterson. She graduated from Dexter High School. She married Carol Abram Shehorn in Dexter on Feb. 24, 1945. He preceded her in death on Jan. 11, 1974. She married Rex Gilly on June 25, 1977, and he died on March 19, 2006.

She was a secretary and bookkeeper for Union Avenue Christian Church in Litchfield, Ill., Wikomi Mfg. Co. in Litchfield, Ill., and for the State of Illinois, Capital Development Board in Springfield, Ill.. She also co-owned the Dixie Cream Donut Shop in Litchfield, Ill., with her husband Carol. She was a member of the Union Avenue Christian Church for over 50 years. Her most cherished role was being a loving mother and wife.

She is survived by her son, Cliff (Carol) Shehorn of Springfield, Ill.; daughter, Becky (Gary) Dickerson of Overland Park, Kan.; grandson, Wayne Shehorn of Springfield, Ill.; granddaughter Jen (Sean) Ricker of Springfield, Ill., granddaughter, Kelly Dickerson of Blue Springs; great-grandsons, Mikey and Cole Ricker of Springfield, Ill. She is also survived by her sister Nadine Johnson of Kevil, Ky., and her twin sister June Brown of Stilson, Ga.; step-daughter Nancy (Mike) Funk of Litchfield, Ill.; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; and her brothers Elmer, Norman, and Max Miller.

Funeral services will be Saturday, Dec. 4, 2010, at 10 a.m. at Dexter Cemetery, Dexter. Rainey-Matthis Funeral Home of Dexter, MO is in charge of arrangements.
