Thomas A. Brown, Jr., son of the late Thomas A. Brown, Sr. and Mammie Stewart Brown was born on April 24, 1921 in Smithville, Miss. and died on Nov. 30, 2010 at the Golden Living Center in Dexter at the age of 89.

He was a veteran of the United States Army serving in WW II, a member of the First Baptist Church in Dexter, a county agent and a resident of Dexter.

On May 20, 1950 he was united in marriage to Charles Davis. Mrs. Davis preceded him in death on Jan. 3, 1996.

Mr. Brown is survived by one step-son, Jessie Ayres of Davenport, Fla.; by two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Besides his wife and parents he was preceded in death by two brothers, James Brown and Grady Brown; and three sisters, Francis Bowlen, Bessie Cowley and Myrtle Whitehead.

Friends may call at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home on Friday, Dec. 3, 2010 from 1 p.m. until 2:30 p.m. Funeral services will follow in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel in Dexter at 2:30 P.M. Interment will follow in the Dexter Cemetery.
