Carl M. Owens, son of the late Wiley M. and Edith Abington Owens, was born in Poplar Bluff on Sept. 17, 1930, and died at his home on Saturday, Dec. 4, 2010, at the age of 80.
Mr. Owens had lived in St. Louis where he worked as an engineer for Boeing Aircraft. He moved to Dexter in 1991. He was a member of the Dexter Elks Lodge and attended the First General Baptist Church in Dexter. He was a veteran of the U. S. Navy.
On Sept. 4, 1954, he was first married to Patty J. Dyer in St. Louis. She preceded him in death on June 5, 2003. On April 3, 2004, he was married to Doris Garrett Hutchcraft in Dexter.
Surviving are his wife, Doris Owens of Dexter; three step-sons David and Brant Hutchcraft both of Dexter, Mark Hutchcraft of Hampton, Va.; one step-grandchild; one step-great-grandchild; one brother, O. C. Nisewonger of West Virginia; one sister, Mona Erwin of Roseville, Calif. Other relatives and friends also survive. He was preceded in death by a step-daughter, Linda Hutchcraft Montgomery; and a brother, George Owens.
Visitation will be held after 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 8, 2010, at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Dexter.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 8, 2010, in the Watkins & Sons Chapel in Dexter with the Rev. Kenneth Biggs officiating.
Interment will follow in the Morgan Memorial Park Cemetery in Advance. Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Dexter is in charge of arrangements.
