Estel Dow Eaton, son of the late George Eaton and Stella Hodge Eaton, was born on Feb. 6, 1918 at Acorn Ridge and died in the Missouri Southern Healthcare at Dexter, Mo. on Tuesday, Dec. 7, 2010, at the age of 92.

Mr. Eaton attended the First General Baptist Church in Dexter, was a former employee of the International Shoe Company in Dexter and the City of Dexter Street Department. He was a resident of Dexter.

He was united in marriage to Wilma Fae Gibson on Jan. 8, 1939 near Dexter. Mrs. Eaton preceded him in death on Sept. 5, 1995.

Survivors include two sons, Lester Wayne Eaton of Bourbon and Larry Dow Eaton of Dexter; one brother, James Homer Eaton of Swinton; one sister, Ester McCollough of Dexter; six grandchildren, Deborah Stewart, David Eaton, Lynda Desmond, Kimberly Gargus, Sharon Purcell, Tammy Bercier; 18 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Besides his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Brenda Joyce Bess; one grandson, Travis Ray Bess; one granddaughter, Schnie Jones; three brothers, Chester Eaton, Junior Eaton and Thurman Eaton; two sisters, Thelma McCollough and Hazel Bruce.

Visitation will be held at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter from noon until 2 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 11, 2010.

Funeral services will then be conducted at 2 p.m. in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel with Rev. Kenneth Biggs officiating. Interment will follow in the Hagy Cemetery.
