Mary Melba Young, daughter of the late Ward and Emma Love Declue Payne, was born in Potosi, Mo., on Jan. 10, 1922, and died at the Crowley Ridge Care Center in Dexter, Mo., on Wednesday, Dec. 8, 2010, at the age of 88.

Mrs. Young had lived in Bloomfield, Mo., all of her life. She was a member of the Link Church near Bloomfield.

On April 1, 1944, she was married to Everett "Bud" Young. He preceded her in death on May 21, 2009.

Surviving are one son, Dennis Young of Dexter; one daughter, Janet Walker of Arnold, Mo.; two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren. Other relatives and many friends also survive. She was preceded in death by one brother, Glenwood Payne; and two sisters, Eleanor Crocker and Lucille Crabtree.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, Dec. 12, 2010, from 5-8 p.m. at the Chiles-Cooper Funeral Home in Bloomfield.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, Dec. 13, 2010, at 10 a.m. in the Chiles-Cooper Funeral Home in Bloomfield with Rev. Michael Woods of Dexter officiating.

Interment will be in the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield with Chiles-Cooper Funeral Home in Bloomfield in charge of arrangements.
