James Arthur "Jimmy" Rieffer, son of Steve and Kathryn Hyslop of Bloomfield and the late James A. Rieffer, Sr., was born on June 14, 1973 in Potosi, Mo. and died on Jan. 1, 2011 near Dudley at the age of 37.
Jimmy was an avid baseball card collector and St. Louis Cardinals fan. He was a 1991 graduate of Valley High School in Caledonia. He was a machine operator for UniLever in Sikeston and a resident of Dudley.
On Dec. 12, 1997 he was united in marriage to Lisa Ann Heaton at Piggott, Ark. Mrs. Rieffer survives of the home in Dudley.
Besides his wife and mother he is survived by one son, Tyler Filippi of Belgrade, Mo.; by three step-sons, Brian James Grimes of Dudley, Eric Lynn Grimes and wife, Chelley, of Dexter, and Dustin Scott Mitchell of Dudley; by one sister, Lisa Bone, and husband, Kyle, of DeSoto, Mo.; by one grandchild, Kira Lynn Grimes of Dexter and by one nephew, Karter Bone of DeSoto, Mo.
Besides his father, he was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Ernest McCollom and Lois McCollom; by his paternal grandparents, Willard and Brownie Rieffer.
Visitation will be held at Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter on Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2010 from 5 until 8 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, Jan. 6, 2011 at 10 a.m. in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel with Rev. Kevin Eskew officiating. Interment will follow in the Caledonia Methodist Cemetery at Caledonia, Mo.
