Helen G. Bowman, daughter of the late Lewis Cartwright and Geneva Livingston Cartwright Pyle, was born on Aug. 7, 1937 in Bernie, Mo., and died at Malden Nursing Center in Malden, Mo. on Monday, Jan. 3, 2011, at the age of 73.

Mrs. Bowman had managed rental property and had farmed during her life. She loved reading books, cooking, sewing and enjoyed traveling. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Bernie and was a resident of Bernie.

She was united in marriage to Glyn Leon Bowman in Bernie on March 11, 1954. He preceded his wife in death on June 26, 1994.

Survivors include one son, Dennis Bowman of Bernie; two daughters, Terry Flowers of Bernie and Sharon Cullen of Folsom, Calif.; one sister, Barbara Russell of Troutdale, Va.; four grandchildren, David Flowers Jr., Jamie Placher, Kelly Cullen, Krista Cullen; four great-grandchildren, Calvin Flowers, Luke Flowers, Holden Placher, Kelsi Placher; other relatives and many friends.

She was preceded in death other than by her parents and her husband, by one sister, Sue Mayberry.

Visitation will be held at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Bernie from 10-11 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 6, 2011.

Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, Jan. 6, 2011 at 11 a.m. in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel with Rev. Bill Garret officiating.

Interment will follow in the Bernie Cemetery.
