Frank J. Box died on Jan. 6, 2011, at the age of 77, at the Missouri Southern Healthcare in Dexter, Mo.

He was born at Tanner, Mo. on April 12, 1933, the son of the late Amos John and Fay (Newton) Box.

He was a member of the Dexter First Assembly of God at the time of his death. Mr. Box was in the US Navy for a short period of time and was discharged due to medical reasons. He lived in Sikeston, Mo. from 1976 to 1985 and worked for MoDot 31 years, retiring in 1994. After his retirement, he worked for Enterprise and Bud Shell Ford in Dexter.

He was united in marriage on Sept. 8, 1970 to Ruth Slayton, to this union one child was born.

Survivors in addition to his wife, Ruth, include one daughter and son-in-law, DeAnna and Jeff Malloy of Dexter; one step-son, Ralph Slayton of Dexter; one step-daughter, Beth Slayton of Poulsbo, Wash.; three grandchildren, Seth, Austin and Jeffery Malloy of Dexter; 3 step-grandchildren, Craig, Amy and Sarah Slayton of Lockport, La.; 10 great-grandchildren; two brothers and sisters-in-law, E. J. and Barbara Box of Sikeston, Mo. and James and Faye Box of New Madrid, Mo.; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Murline and Luther Mitchem and Nadine and Gene Lucy, and Deloris and Perry Yount, all of Sikeston; a very special friend and sister-in-law, Ellen Russom; and many other relatives and friends who will mourn his passing.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a very special niece, Pamela Delgado.

Mr. Box loved his family, friends, and his church family very much.

Visitation will be held Sunday, Jan. 9, 2011, from 2 to 5 p.m. at Ponder Funeral Home in Sikeston, where funeral services will be held Monday, Jan. 10, 2011, at 11 a.m. The Rev. Mike Cartwright will officiate.

Interment will follow in the Sikeston Garden of Memories Cemetery.
