C.C. Godfrey, son of the late Rado Godfrey and Darcus Ragland Godfrey, was born on Sept. 17, 1911 in Tilley, Ark. and died at the Golden Living Center in Dexter, Mo., on Wednesday, Jan. 12, 2011 at the age of 99.

Mr. Godfrey was a Farmer for many years and a resident of Dexter.

On Dec. 24, 1931 he was united in marriage to Sarah Ahleen Bonds in Clinton, Ark. Mrs. Godfrey preceded him in death on Feb. 8, 2001.

Survivors include three sons, Junior Godfrey of Vernal, Utah, Carl B. Godfrey of Grass Valley, Calif., and Lawrence Godfrey of Cape Girardeau, Mo.; one daughter, Margie Elam of Dexter; one sister, Ruby Hayes of Bloomfield, Mo.; also by 10 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.

Besides his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Delores L. Williams; one brother, Earl Godfrey; one sister, Resse Yoder; and one granddaughter, Beth Godfrey.

Visitation will be held at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter from 9:30-11 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 17, 2011.

Funeral services will then be conducted on Monday, Jan. 17, 2011 at 11 a.m. in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel in Dexter with Rev. Michael Woods officiating.

Interment will follow at the Armstead Dowdy Cemetery in rural Dexter.

Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter is in charge of arrangements.
