Leonard D. Carwile, son of the late James Carwile and Daisy Duffie Carwile, was born on Sept. 20, 1930 in Dexter, Mo. and died at the Missouri Southern Healthcare in Dexter on Wednesday, Jan. 12, 2011 at the age of 80.
Mr. Carwile was a former employee of General Mills in West Chicago, Ill., veteran of the United States Army serving in Korean Conflict, and a resident of Dexter.
On Aug. 28, 1951 he was united in marriage to Shirley McGowen in Pocahontas, Ark. Mrs. Carwile survives of the home in Dexter.
Besides his wife, other survivors include three sons, Steve Carwile of Blacklick, Ohio, Tim Carwile of Batavia, Ill., and James Carwile of Cortland, Ill.; two sisters, Pansy Redman of Advance, Mo., and Alvena Estep of Mechanicsville, Penn.; also by six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Ricky Carwile; and by two brothers.
Visitation will be held at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter from 5-8 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 14, 2011.
Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, Jan. 15, 2011, at 1 p.m. in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel in Dexter with Rev. James Hook officiating.
Interment will follow in the Dexter Cemetery with full military honors.
