Virgil F. Hanes, son of the late Benjamin and Nina Haywood Hanes, was born in Summer, Ill., on Oct. 13, 1931, and died at his home in Bloomfield, Mo., on Jan. 17, 2011, at the age of 79.

Mr. Hanes had lived in Michigan until his retirement from the Ford Motor Company and moved back to Bloomfield several years ago. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and the Eastern Star in Bloomfield. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army and had volunteered for several years at the John J. Pershing V. A. Medical Center in Poplar Bluff, Mo.

Surviving are one sister, Philomena Cox of Bull Shoals, Ark.; one brother, Robert Hanes of Garden City, Mich. Other relatives and many friends also survive.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 19, 2011, after 9:30 a.m. at the Chiles-Cooper Funeral Home in Bloomfield.

Eastern Star Services and Masonic Rites will be conducted on Wednesday, Jan. 19, 2011, beginning at 10:15 a.m. in the Chiles-Cooper Funeral Home in Bloomfield.

Interment will be in the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield with Chiles-Cooper Funeral Home of Bloomfield in charge of arrangements.
