Goldie Watkins Depriest

Goldie Watkins Depriest, daughter of the late Roe Fortner and Elsie Layton Fortner, was born on March 22, 1922 in rural Bloom-field, Mo., and died at the Missouri Southern Healthcare in Dexter, Mo. on Jan. 24, 2011 at the age of 88.

Goldie was a housewife and a resident of Dexter.

On Nov. 8, 1938, she was united in marriage to George Watkins. Mr. Watkins preceded her in death on March 18, 1958. She was then united in marriage to William Depriest on Nov. 12, 1960 in Dexter. Mr. Depriest survives of the home in Dexter.

Besides her husband, survivors include two sons, George Watkins Jr. of Bloomfield and Larry Watkins of Dexter; two step-sons, Ronnie Depriest of Kansas and Darrell Depriest of Columbia, Mo.; one step-daughter, Vivian Burnsed of Dexter; one brother Elmer Fortner of Arizona; six grandchildren, ten step-grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; 16 step-great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and 10 step-great-great-grandchildren.

Besides her first husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two sons, Bobby Watkins and Paul David Watkins; one brother, Robert Fortner; three half-sisters, Virginia Lewis, Geneva Matthews, and Freda Young.

Visitation will be held at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter from 5-8 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 27, 2011.

Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, Jan. 28, 2011 at 2 p.m. in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter with Dale Grissom officiating.

Interment will follow in the Bloomfield Cemetery.
