Fern Fowler

Fern Fowler, 94, daughter of the late Marion Francis "Doll" Frailey and Ina Mae Clark Frailey was born on Sept. 3, 1916, in rural Essex and died on Jan. 30, 2011 at the Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.

Mrs. Fowler was retired from the state of Idaho, where she worked with mentally handicapped individuals. She was a member of the Broadwater Church of the Brethren and a resident of Essex.

On March 18, 1935 she was united in marriage to Francis Doyle Fowler in Parma. Mr. Fowler preceded her in death on Aug. 13, 1973.

Survivors include one son, Charles Harold Fowler of Fort Morgan, Colo.; two daughters, Doylene Rathke of Columbia, Mo., and Donnie VanSteenbergh of Springfield, Mo.; one sister, Elsie Sifford of Malden; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Besides her husband and parents she was preceded in death by one daughter, Dixie Mae Fowler; one brother, Charles Frailey; and by one sister, Peggy Hampton.

Visitation will be held at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter on Friday, Feb. 4, 2011, from 5-7 p.m.

Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, Feb. 5, 2011, at 2 p.m. in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel with Rev. Harold Gass officiating.

Interment will follow in the Dexter Cemetery.

Memorials be made to the Broadwater Church of the Brethren.

Envelopes will be provided at Rainey Mathis Funeral Home.
