Essie Crank, daughter of the late Hosea W. and Mary Parks Crank, was born in Malden, Mo., on March 9, 1921, and diedy at the Southern Missouri Healthcare in Dexter, Mo. on Feb. 19, 2011, at the age of 89.

She had lived in Pontiac, Mich., from 1944-1980, then moving to Dexter. She had taught bible study at Central Gardens in Dexter every Sunday for many years.

On Sept. 3, 1938, she was married to J. D. Crank in Poplar Bluff, Mo. He preceded her in death on April 24, 1995.

Surviving are 12 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren; and one sister, Lula Orr of Pontiac, Mich. Many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. She was preceded in death by one daughter, Shirley Alumbaugh; two sons, Darrell "Red" Crank and Jimmie D. Crank; and two sisters, Aline Lynn, Irene Heacock.

Visitation was Tuesday, Feb. 22, 2011, after 12 p.m. at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Dexter.

Services were conducted on Tuesday, Feb. 22, 2011, at 2 p.m. in the Watkins & Sons Chapel in Dexter with Ray Rowland of Dexter officiating.

Interment will be in the Dexter Cemetery in Dexter with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Dexter in charge of arrangements.
