Virginia "Jennie Sue" Jarrell

Virginia "Jennie Sue" Jarrell, daughter of the late George "Boge" and Ethel Aldridge Ferguson, was born in Bloomfield, Mo., on July 4, 1937, and died at the Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston on Feb. 22, 2011, at the age of 73.

Mrs. Jarrell had lived in the Dexter area most of her life. She was of the Baptist faith and had worked at the International Hat Factory and was a caregiver for many area families.

On Oct. 17, 1953, she was married to Carl Otto Jarrell. He preceded her in death on Oct. 27, 2006.

Surviving are one daughter, Jan Davis of Dexter; three sons, Richard Jarrell of Lawton, Okla., Gordon Jarrell and Scott Jarrell, both of Dexter; five grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; four sisters, Verline McCollough of Puxico, Betty Tipton of Montrose, Mich., Peggy Lynn of Durand, Mich., Patty Lynn of St. Johns, Mich.; and one half-brother, Dicky Ferguson. Many other relatives and friends also survive. She was preceded in death by a sister, Polly Miller; her step-mother who helped raise her, Edna Aldridge Ferguson; and son-in-law, Jerry F. Davis.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, Feb. 24, 2011, from 5-8 p.m. at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Dexter.

Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, Feb. 25, 2011, at 11 a.m. in the Watkins & Sons Chapel in Dexter with Darrell Penberthy officiating.

Interment will be in the Mo. Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield.
