Thelma McNeeley Branum, daughter of the late Myra Fleetwood was born on April 26, 1927 in Dexter, Mo. and died in the Sikeston Convalescent Center in Sikeston, Mo. on March 8, 2011 at the age of 83.

Mrs. Branum was of the Baptist faith, a former cook at the Dexter Senior Center in Dexter, and a resident of Dexter.

She was united in marriage to Nelson McNeeley at Dexter in 1943. Mr. McNeeley preceded her in death on Sept. 25, 1981. On May 1, 1988 she was united in marriage to Chester Branum in Dexter. Mr. Branum preceded her in death on Aug. 9, 2002.

Survivors include two daughters, Pat O'Conner of Van Buren, Ark. and Melba Mitchell of Sikeston, Mo.; two step-sons, Jerry Branum of Dexter and Deryl Branum; one sister, Mary Lou Knight of Dexter; four grandsons, and two great-grandsons.

She was preceded in death by one son, James Nelson McNeeley; one daughter, Brenda Lou Arthur; one brother, Melvin Fleetwood; and three sisters, Nettie Medlin, Pansy Layton, and Freda Mae Courter.

Visitation will take place at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday March 9, 2011. Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, March 10, 2011 at 2 p.m. in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel in Dexter. Interment will follow in the Walker Cemetery in Bloomfield, Mo.
