Esther Violet Gisi, daughter of the late Wade and May Dowdy Snider, was born on Jan. 22, 1928, at Essex, Mo., and died in the Missouri Southern Healthcare in Dexter, Mo., on March 19, 2011, at the age of 83.

Mrs. Gisi was a member of the Second General Baptist Church in Dexter. She worked many years in the offices of the Trailback Plantation and the Radcliffe Plantation and was a resident of Essex.

She was united in marriage to Charles Gisi on Dec. 4, 1946, in Piggott, Ark. Mr. Gisi survives of the home in Essex.

Besides her husband, she is survived by two daughters, Cathy Ross and her husband, James Alan Ross of Chesterfield, Mo., Mary Jo Mills and her husband, Steve Mills of Chester, Va.; two sisters, Martha Homan of Marquand, Mo., and Nina Tippen of Kennett, Mo.; and five grandchildren, Natalie Hughes and her husband Scott Hughes, Nathan Ross, Neal Ross, David Mills and Daniel Mills.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Rulen Rudolph Snider; six sisters, Naomi Coffey, Helen Blunt, Ruble Lane, Mildred Mouser, Dorothy Snider and Opal Smith; and one grandson, Andrew Mills.

Visitation will be held at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter from 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday, March 22, 2011.

Services will be conducted on Wednesday, March 23, 2011, at 10 a.m. in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel with Rev. Joshua Carpenter officiating.

Interment will follow in Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield, Mo.
