Delphia Duckworth, daughter of the late James W. Trotter and Nora Ethel Tennison was born on Aug. 30, 1912 in Hamilton County, Ill., and died on May 9, 2011 at the Crowley Ridge Care Center in Dexter at the age of 98.

Mrs. Duckworth was a housewife, a member of the New Hope General Baptist Church in Essex, Missouri, and a resident of rural Essex.

On Dec. 18, 1929 she was united in marriage to Royal Duckworth in Bloomfield, Mo. Mr. Duckworth preceded her in death on Feb. 3, 1990.

Survivors include one daughter, Juanita E. Hicks of Essex; three sons, Darrell G. Duckworth and Clinton Duckworth, both of Dexter, and Carroll D. Duckworth of Essex, Mo.; two sisters, Lucille Henson of Bloomfield, Mo., and Barbara Lou Shipman of Fairdealing, Mo.; 19 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren.

Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two sons, Dale Duckworth and Donald Duckworth; one daughter, Ethel Bell; one brother, Dick Trotter; two sisters, Eva Wheeler and Dorothy Rogers; two grandchildren, Ruth Ann Jowers and Denise Bell; and one great-grandson, Jared Gibson.

Visitation will be held at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter from 12:30-2 p.m. on Friday, May 13, 2011. Funeral services will then be conducted at 2 p.m. on Friday, May 13, 2011, in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel in Dexter with Rev. James Hook officiating. Interment will follow in the Essex Cemetery.
