Donald Lemmons, son of the late Earl Lemmons and Iva Moore Lemmons, was born on Oct. 29, 1936 in Dexter, Mo., and died on May 31, 2011 at the Southeast Hospital in Cape Girardeau, Mo. at the age of 74.
Mr. Lemmons was a retired veteran of the U.S. Navy serving in the Vietnam War as an electronic technician. He was a member of the Risen Church in Dexter and a resident of Dexter.
On Dec. 26, 1960 he was united in marriage to Melba Ramsey in Dexter. Mrs. Lemmons survives of the home in Dexter.
Besides his wife, survivors include two sons, Michael Lemmons of Brownstown, Mich., and Joshua Lemmons of Dexter; two daughters, Debbie Abeel of Ramona, Calif., and Kathy Daniel of Dexter; also seven grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, John Kramer.
Visitation was held at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter from 12:30 to 2 p.m. on Thursday, June 2, 2011.
Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m. on Thursday, June 2, 2011 in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel in Dexter with Rev. Joshua Carpenter officiating.
Interment followed in the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery at Bloomfield, Missouri with full military honors.
