Dawsey Richard Glass

Dawsey Richard Glass, son of the late Richard and Gladys Lee Nanney Glass, was born on Sept. 11, 1920, in Bernie and died on June 19, 2011 at the Cypress Point Skilled Nursing Facility in Dexter at the age of 90.

Mr. Glass was a veteran of the United States Army serving in World War II, a member of the Bernie Missionary Alliance Church and a resident of Bernie.

On Dec. 15, 1937 he was united in marriage to Imogene Henry at Bloomfield. Mrs. Glass preceded him in death on March 16, 2004.

He is survived by one son and daughter in-law, Carlyn and wife Donna Glass of Loudon, Tenn.; one sister, Nadine Carson of Bernie; many grandchildren; and many more great-grandchildren.

Besides his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by two sons, Richard Eugene Glass and Joseph Edward Glass; and two brothers, Goldie Glass and Willis "Tootie" Glass.

Visitation will be held at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Bernie on Wednesday, June 22, 2011 from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m.

Funeral services will follow at 1 p.m. in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel with Rev. Don Wells officiating.

Interment will follow in the Bernie Cemetery.
