Charles H. Long, son of the late Ralph Long and Bertha Penniger Long, was born on Aug. 29, 1922 near Bloom-field, Mo. and died in the Cypress Point Skilled Nursing Center in Dexter on July 10, 2011 at the age of 88.

Mr. Long was a self-employed farmer for many years, retired after 23 years from the United States Post Office as a Mail Carrier in Bloomfield, Mo.; veteran of the United States Army, member of the First General Baptist Church in Bloomfield, and a resident of Dexter, Mo.

On Aug. 20, 1944 he was united in marriage to Geraldine B. Wilson in Piggott, Ark. Mrs. Long survives of the home in Dexter.

Besides his wife, other survivors include two sons, Charles R. Long and Randy A. Long of Dexter; by three daughters, Helen Lang of Dexter, Pamela Walls of Sedgewickville, Mo., and Rebecca Long of Springfield, Ill.; one daughter from a previous marriage Carol McRoy of Dexter; one sister, Mary Stewart of Bloomfield, Mo.; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, D.J. Long and Bobby Long.

Visitation will be held at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter from 5-8 p.m. on Tuesday, July 12, 2011.

Visitation will also be held on Wednesday, July 13, 2011 from 10 a.m. until 12 noon in the First General Baptist Church in Bloomfield, Mo.

Funeral services will then be conducted on Wednesday, July 13, 2011, in the First General Baptist Church in Bloomfield at 2 p.m. with Rev. Kevin Eskew of officiating.

Interment will follow in the Dexter Cemetery.
