Rodney Rockwell Wylde

Rodney Rockwell Wylde, 95, died early Saturday morning, Aug. 13, 2011, at his home in Kingsport, Tenn. He was born on Oct. 10, 1915 in St. Louis, Mo., to Elmer J. and Clara Wylde.

Rodney and Margaret Blevins were married Aug. 31, 1941, in St. Louis, Mo. They were married for 68 years when she preceded him in death on Aug. 2, 2010.

Rodney graduated in 1941 from the University of Missouri, Columbia with a B.S. in Agricultural Engineering.

He was employed during World War II as an engineer at Curtiss-Wright/McDonnell Aircraft, St. Louis, Mo.

Following World War II, he operated a dairy farm in Audrain County and taught vocational agriculture before returning GIs at Middletown High School. Rodney returned to McDonnell as an engineer for seven years before moving to Callaway County, where he operated a beef cattle farm for 30 years.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his brother, Jim Wylde.

Rodney is survived by two sons, Richard Wylde and wife, Cecelia of New Bloomfield, Mo. and Edward Wylde and wife, Donna of Lexington, N.C.; two daughters, Elizabeth Wylde Boyle and husband, Greg of Willow Springs, Mo., and Mary Wylde Fabick and husband, Doug of Kingsport, Tenn.; 10 grandchildren; and two great-grandsons.

His wishes were to be cremated. There will no services at this time.
