Thomas Washington Hitt, 87, of Advance, was born Nov. 1, 1923 in Advance, Mo., the son of Robert and Altha Wiseman Hitt and died on Sunday, Aug. 14, 2011 at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, Mo.

Thomas was a farmer, a member of the Jehovah's Witness Kingdom Hall in Cape Girardeau and a veteran of the U. S. Army serving in World War II.

Thomas and Rosemary Eakin were married on June 21, 1946 at Marble Hill, Mo., and she preceded him in death on May 14, 2003. They had two children together.

Survivors include his son, Mike Hitt of Advance and daughter, Marsha Walker of Dexter; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his mother and father; one brother; and five sisters.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, Aug. 16, 2011 from 5-8 p.m. at Morgan Funeral Chapel in Advance.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, Aug. 17, 2011 at 11 a.m. at the chapel. Officiating at the service will be Tom Kelsey and Earl Norman. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery.
