Brenda Collins, daughter of the late Joseph Earnest Lloyd Carter and Edith Cates Carter, was born on June 21, 1945 at Bernie and died in her residence at Dexter on Sept. 3, 2011 at the age of 66.

Mrs. Collins was non-denominational, loved her Lord and truly meant it when she told people to "have a blessed day". She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister.

She was united in marriage to Caroll Sweet. She then married Lynn Collins on July 26, 1997 at Anna, Ill. Mr. Collins preceded her in death on Dec. 27, 2004.

She is survived by one son, Shane Ivan Sweet of Anna, Ill.; by five daughters, Edith Juanita "Nita" Stubbs of Peoria, Ariz., Deanna Gay Childers and Brenda Sue Belcher, both of Dexter, Patricia Jean Porter of Dongola, Ill. and Shanna Lee Sweet of Jonesboro, Ill.; by two brothers, Ivan Willis Carter of Bonne Terre and Sherman Carter of Bernie; by one sister, Letha McElvoy of Dexter; by 15 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and four granddogs.

Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by one grandson, Kyle Lee Kristoff; by one brother, Freeman Luke Carter; and by two sisters, Verna Marie Roberts and Naoma Dockins.

Visitation will be held at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 6, 2011. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 7, 2011 in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel with Rev. D. J. Edwards officiating.

Interment will follow in the Dexter Cemetery.
