Billy Joe Blevins, age 84, of Pontiac, Mich., formerly of Dexter, died on Sat., Sept. 17, 2011, at home with his family at his side.

Bill was born in Dexter and went to Mich-igan in the 1950s.

Velma and Bill Blevins were married Nov. 21, 1970 at the Church of Christ in Pontiac, Mich. and she survives at their home.

Bill's first wife, Carolyn Hill, whom he married in 1952, died on July 19, 2000.

Bill worked for 30 years at Pontiac Motors, retiring in 1982. He could fix anything and was a good mechanic. Bill loved his family, gardening, his tractors and ice cream, and was a good listener. He was always learning and started using a computer at age 82. He was an active member of the Waterford Church of Christ for many years. Bill was a model of kindness and love, and will forever be in our hearts. Bill is survived by his wife, Velma, his children Lois Blevins of Waterford, Mich.; Margaret (Rick) Bigham of Howell, Mich.; Benjamin (Joy) Blevins of Indian River, Mich.; Sharon (Mike) Tocco of Wyandotte, Mich.; Gary Slinkard of Clarkston, Mich. and Jeanne (Arnold) Taylor of Fremont, Calif. He also leaves behind nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren, two sisters, Marsena Burgess of Flushing, Mich., Shirley (Wayne) Burner of Swartz Creek, Mich.; and a brother, Robert (Mary) Blevins of Powe. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Vonette Blevins, three brothers and three sisters.

Funeral service will be held Sept. 21, 2011, at Waterford Church of Christ, 4991 Williams Lake Rd., Waterford, Mich. 48329.

Interment will follow at Lakeview Cemetery. Visitation will be at Coats Funeral Home, Waterford, Mich. on Tuesday 3 p.m.- 5 p.m. and from 7 p.m. -- 9 p.m. and the hour prior to the funeral on Wednesday.

Memorial donations may be made to the National Brain Tumor Society or Waterford Church of Christ.
