Janet Ann Kilbury Knoderer, 84, died early Thursday morning, Sept. 29, 2011 at the LifeCare Center of Cape Girardeau.

Janet was born April 28, 1927 in Plain City, Ohio to William Alwood Kilbury and Cleo Whip Kilbury. She was married to Anson Knoderer on June 26, 1949 in Sunbury, Ohio. He survives at the family farm home.

Janet was a graduate of Ohio State University with a physical Education degree. She taught briefly at Scott City Schools. She was a member of the Bell City United Methodist Church.

Janet was the founder of the current organization, Depressive -- Bi-Polar Support Alliance of Cape Girardeau. She worked tirelessly as an advocate for the mentally ill.

Janet was preceded in death by her parents. Survivors include her husband, one brother, Thomas Kilbury and wife, Thelma, of Sun City, Az., one son, William Knoderer and wife Dawn, of Oran, Mo., two daughters, Elizabeth "Cissy" Williams and husband, Dale, of Oran, and Sarah Moran, and husband Michael, of Deerfield Beach, Fla.

Grandchildren are Melissa Keller and husband, Gabe, St. Louis Mo., Matthew Knoderer and wife, Jennifer, of Cape Girardeau, Mo., Megan Guizani and husband, Mehdi, Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., and Jessica Moran, of Depoe Bay, Ore.

Great-grandchildren are Nicolette and William Knoderer of Cape Girardeau, Mo.

There will be a memorial service for Janet, at 2 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 9, at the Bell City United Methodist Church with Rev. Nancy Gillard, Crown Hospice Chaplain, and Rev. Gwen Streeter, pastor of Gravel Hill United Methodist Church.

Interment will take place at Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
