Gladys DeJournett, daughter of the late William Henry and Mattie Suzanne Scism Warren, was born in Ardeola, Mo. on Sept. 28, 1920, and died at her home near Advance, Mo. on Oct. 9, 2011, at the age of 91.
Mrs. DeJournett had lived in the area all her life. She was a member of the Bell City General Baptist Church in Bell City, Mo.
On Feb. 17, 1940, she married Alvin De-Journett in Bloomfield, Mo.
Surviving are her husband, Alvin DeJournett of Advance, Mo.; one son, Alan DeJournett of Advance, Mo.; four daughters, Faye Crut-cher of Cape Girardeau, Mo., Shelby Gillilan of Bell City, Mo., Una Hatfield and Patty Gadberry, both of Advance, Mo.; 12 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; and one sister, Margaret Woodfin of Advance, Mo. Many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. She was preceded in death by five sons in infancy, two brothers and one sister.
Visitation will take place on Tues., Oct. 11, 2011, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Chiles-Cooper Funeral Home in Blooomfield, Mo.
Funeral services will be on Wed., Oct. 12, 2011, at 2 p.m. in the Chiles-Cooper Funeral Home, with the Rev. Jerry Turner of Marble Hill, Mo. and Beverly Rhodes of Advance, Mo. officiating.
Interment will be in the Gravel Hill Cemetery near Bloomfield, with Chiles-Cooper Funeral Home of Bloomfield in charge of arrangements.
