Bonnie Lee Bess, daughter of the late J. O. and Maude Bowling Hunter, was born April 22, 1920, in Clinton, Ark., and died at her home in Bloomfield, Mo., on Oct. 23, 2011, at the age of 91.
Mrs. Bess had lived in Bloomfield, Mo. for many years and attended the Trinity United Methodist Church in Bloomfield.
She was first married to George Eldon Boswell in 1937. He preceded her in death in 1963.
On Dec. 24, 1968, she was married to Gerald M. Bess. He preceded her in death on Dec. 13, 2007.
Surviving are one daughter, Connie Pixley of Bloomfield, Mo.; three sons and wives, Carroll and Deann Boswell of Bowling Green, Ky., Eldon and Suzanne Boswell of Scott City, Mo., Tom and Shirley Boswell of Puxico, Mo.; 14 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Doyne Hunter of Centralia, Mo., and Clark Hunter of Eldon, Mo.; four sisters, Jeanette McLaughn of Bakersville, Calif., Billie Mae Hunt of Scottsdale, Ariz., Lanora Shrum of Cape Girardeau, Mo. and Josephine Dicknite of Centralia, Mo.; one step- son, Dennis Bess of Bloomfield, Mo. Other relatives and friends also survive. She was preceded in death by two sons, Billy Joe Boswell and Jay Boswell, and two brothers, Ovid and Jerry Hunter.
Visitation was held on Tuesday, Oct. 25, 2011, at 11 a.m. at the Chiles-Cooper Funeral Home in Bloomfield, Mo.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday, Oct. 25, 2011, at 1 p.m. in the Chiles-Cooper Funeral Home in Bloomfield, Mo., with the Rev. Susan Hoyle of Bloomfield, Mo., officiating.
Interment took place in the Oak Ridge Cemetery in Kennett, Mo., with Chiles-Cooper Funeral Home in Bloomfield, Mo. in charge of arrangements.
