Charles "Doc" Steph-ens, 85, of Bloomfield, Mo., the son of Matthew and Melinda Jane Nicholson Stephens, was born Nov. 23, 1925, in Bell City, Mo., and died Nov. 21, 2011, at the Missouri Veterans Home in Cape Girardeau, Mo.

Doc retired as general manager of G.C. Service Co. and Gulf Coast Transit Port Engineer. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge, Lakeville Lodge, Shriners, VFW and was a past Elk member. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving in WWII.

He lived in Cape Girardeau, Mo., from 1946 to 1971, and then moved to Tampa, Fla., where he resided from 1971-1992. He then returned to his homeplace in Bloomfield, Mo., in 1992.

Doc and Ettadean Livers were united in marriage on April 6, 1946, in Cape Girardeau, Mo., and she survives at their home.

Survivors include: two sons, Charles Michael Stephens of Bloomfield, Mo., and Robert E. (Karen) Stephens of Bloomfield, Mo.; two grandchildren, Katrina Stephens of Bloomfield, Mo., and James Hieter of Florida; a step-grandson, Shawn Patterson of Dudley, Mo.; and a great-grandchild, Danielle Stephens of Tampa, Fla.

He was preceded in death by a grandson, Michael Kim Stephens, five brothers and a sister.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday Nov. 22, 2011, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Morgan Funeral Chapel in Advance, Mo. Masonic Rites will be conducted at 7 p.m.

A funeral mass will be held on Wedsneday, Nov. 23, 2011, at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Advance, Mo. Father Randy Tochrop will officiate.

Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Advance, with full military rites.

Memorial donations may be made to the Missouri Veterans Home in Cape Girardeau, Mo.
