Eloise E. McCarty, daughter of Oscar Thomas and Willie Mae Graham Ashby, was born in Brewers Lake, Mo., on July 31, 1925, and died

at Missouri Southern Healthcare in Dexter, Mo., on Dec. 4, 2011, at the age of 86.

She had lived in the Dexter, Mo., area most of her life. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Dexter and was a long time member of the Eastern Star.

On May 19, 1969, Eloise was married to William "Bill" McCarty in Charleston, Mo. He preceded her in death on Jan. 3, 1981.

Surviving are one son, Sam Sneed of Pinkneyville, Ill., and one daughter, Judy Sneed Brown of Dexter, Mo.; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Other relatives and friends also survive.

She was preceded in death by five brothers: John, Robert, Clifford, Clyde, Raymond and Alfred Ashby.

Visitation was held on Tuesday, Dec. 6, 2011, at the Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Dexter, Mo.

Funeral services were held on Wednesday, Dec. 7, 2011, at 11 a.m. at the Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Dexter, with the Rev. Steve Easterwood of Dexter officiating.

Interment took place in the Webb - Sprinkles Cemetery in Dexter, with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Dexter in charge of arrangements.
