Billy Ray Sanders, Sr., son of the late Elmer Junior and Clara Jane King Sanders, was born in Essex, Mo., on June 1, 1949, and died at his home in Dexter, Mo., on Feb. 24, 2012, at the age of 62.
He had lived in Essex and Dexter all his life. Bill had worked in the sanitation department at Tyson Foods and was a member of the Lighthouse Christian Center in Dexter.
On Oct. 19, 2011, he was married to Renita Rae Brown in Dexter..
Surviving are his wife, Renita Sanders of Dexter; four sons, Billy Ray Sanders, Jr. of Bernie, Jeff Sanders of Texas, Christopher Brown and Michael Quinlan, both of Dexter; one daughter, Amanda Vaughn of Dexter; 13 grandchildren; three brothers, Delbert Sanders and Adam Sanders, both of Dexter, and Steve Sanders of Essex; and two sisters, Dortha Hess and Kathy Romero, both of Dexter. He was preceded in death by one sister, Cindy Blackwell. Other family and friends also survive.
Visitation was held on Sunday, Feb. 26, 2012, at the Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Dexter.
Funeral services were held on Monday, Feb. 27, 2012, at the Lighthouse Christian Center in Dexter with the Rev. Tim Russell officiating.
Interment took place in Essex Cemetery in Essex with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Dexter in charge of arrangements.
