Ralph "Eugene" Hessling

Ralph "Eugene" Hessling, Sr., son of the late Edward Hessling and Polly Ann Brockwell Hessling, was born June 30, 1917, in Lilbourn, Mo., and died March 31, 2012, at his residence in Dexter at the age of 94.

Mr. Hessling was a heavy equipment operator and a resident of Dexter.

On Dec. 26, 1936, he was united in marriage to Freddie Pearl Hessling in New Madrid, Mo. Mrs. Hessling preceded him in death on Jan. 26, 2006.

He is survived by five sons, Ralph Hessling Jr., Ronnie Ray Hessling, Everett Hessling, and Gary W. Hessling, all of Dexter, and Gerald Hessling of Bloomfield; one brother, George Hessling of Granite City, Ill.; one sister, Grace Davis of Sikeston; six grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grand-children.

Besides his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Vonda Jean Hessling.

Visitation will be at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter on Wednesday, April 4, 2012, from 5-8 p.m.

Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, April 5, 2012, at 10:30 a.m. in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel in Dexter, with Rev. Kenneth Biggs officiating.

Interment will follow in the Dexter Cemetery.

At the family's request, memorials may be made to a charity of choice.
