A. C. Lay, son of the late Albert Charles Lay and Mabel Clara Ramsey Lay, was born on Aug. 4, 1924, in Bell City, Mo., and died on April 16, 2012, at the Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau, Mo., at the age of 87.
Mr. Lay was a member of the Emmanuel Baptist Church in Dexter, worked in several factories in Dexter, was a former employee of the First Baptist Church in Dexter, and was a resident of Dexter.
On Oct. 7, 1952, he was united in marriage to Viola Leoma Forkum in Piggott, Ark. Mrs. Lay survives at their home in Dexter.
Besides his wife, survivors include one son, Allen Carl Lay of Smyrna, Tenn.; two daughters, Diane Sue Robinson of Dexter and Cheryl Lynn Rice of Mount Pleasant, Miss.; one brother, Hugh Lay of Bloomfield; eight grandchildren, Jeremiah Robinson, Joshua Robin-son, Benjamin Robinson, Caleb Lay, Kara Lay, Jacob Lay, Ethan Rice, and Hannah Rice; and five great-grandchildren, Cale Robinson, Judd Robinson, Liliana Robin-son, Brantley Robinson, and Aiden Robinson.
Besides his parents,
he was preceded in death by one son, Stanley Charles Lay; five sisters, Dorothy Lampley, Eula Burkhart, Jessie McRoy, Maggie Lay, and Joyce Spurgeon.
Visitation will be held at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Wednesday, April 18, 2012.
Funeral services will then be conducted on Thursday, April 19, 2012, at 10:30 a.m. in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter. Interment will follow in the Hagy Cemetery.
