Katherine Boyt, daughter of the late Claude Matthews and Hattie Lee Matthews, was born on Aug. 8, 1921, in Hornersville, Mo., and died on April 29, 2012, at the Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston at the age of 90.

Mrs. Boyt was the owner and operator of Kay Beauty Shop where she worked as a beautician. She was the second longest living member of the Dexter First United Methodist Church.

On Sept. 8, 1939, she was united in marriage to Hershel Boyt in Piggott, Ark. Mr. Boyt preceded her in death on March 22, 2006.

She is survived by one son, Jim Boyt of Springfield, Mo.; two daughters, Claudia Von Oostrom of Cape Girardeau and Sandy Steinkamp of St. Louis; and three grandchildren.

Visitation will be at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter on Thursday, May 3, 2012 from 9:30 a.m. until 11 a.m.

Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, May 3, 2012, at 11 a.m. in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel with Rev. Michael Woods officiating. Interment will follow in the Dexter Cemetery.

The family requests that all memorials be made to the Dexter First United Methodist Church, 501 South Walnut St., Dexter, Mo. 63841.
