Karen owned and operated Annie-Em's in downtown Cape Girardeau. She had been a teacher and
principal for 18 years with the Bell City School District. She graduated from Southeast Missouri State University with a Specialist Degree in Education. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Dexter.
Karen and Clint Stephens were united in marriage on July 16, 1983, in Bell City, and he survives.
Other survivors include her parents, Edsel and Marie Cooper of Advance; two daughters, Emilie Stephens and Annie Stephens, both of Advance; and two brothers, Alan Cooper and Michael Cooper, both of Bloomfield.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 14, 2012, from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Morgan Funeral Home Chapel in Advance.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 15, 2012, at 11 a.m. in the Morgan Funeral Home Chapel.
Interment will follow at Pleasant Grove Cemetery near Bell City.
The family requests memorial donations be made to the Stoddard County Children's Home or the Cape Girardeau Humane Society.
